This work represents the first large-scale deployment of ambient IoT technology in the retail sector, with millions of Wiliot IoT Pixels being integrated throughout Walmart’s supply chain.
By combining Wiliot’s ambient IoT technology with Walmart’s advanced AI systems, the collaboration is designed to dramatically enhance supply chain efficiency, inventory accuracy, and cold chain compliance. Wiliot’s IoT Pixels are being used to track Walmart pallets at scale, with a goal of reaching 90 million by the end of 2026. This initiative stands as one of the largest ambient IoT deployments to date, providing a new source of supply chain data for Walmart’s expanding use of AI.
The collaboration is already making a significant impact by eliminating manual tasks and delivering automated alerts. This empowers Walmart associates to act quickly, make smarter decisions, and dedicate more time to serving customers. The collaborative solution is currently deployed across 500 Walmart locations, with plans for national expansion in 2026. The rollout will cover 4,600 Walmart Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets, and over 40 distribution centers, generating high-resolution supply chain data that feeds into Walmart’s AI systems.
